I had a different blog post planned for today. Then I remembered. Yesterday, while I know I knew it, I didn’t think of it. This morning, I woke up. And I remembered. The original post I had for today will be posted on Wednesday.
On this day 16 years ago, my oldest niece was 7 months old. My other nieces and nephew had not been born yet. It blows my mind to think that this thing that has influenced our country so much (not necessarily for the good) is just a piece of history to them.
I was at home, getting ready for work/starting the day when the first airplane flew into the first tower. We watched as the second one crashed into the other one. That entire day felt eerie, surreal. I lived in McAlester, Oklahoma, at the time. If you’re not familiar with McAlester, there’s a Defense Ammunition Center there where they build new (and detonate old) bombs. At the time, I was told it was #7 on terrorists’ hit lists. I don’t know if it is or not, but that didn’t help the situation any.
We remember.
